After a year
of announcing android 6.0 Marshmallow, Samsung decided to update galaxy S5 Active which is a 2014 flagship
device. If you want to update your device, you can choose one of these methods:-
Method
1
- Go to your device settings.
- Scroll down to system updates.
- Tap check for update.
- Your device will check the update and will install it automatically.
Method 2 (manual
way)
- Check your device version make sure that it matches this (SM-G870W)
- If it matches, go to Sammobile site and download the firmware file from there or TAP THIS LINK TODOWNLOAD THE FRIMWARE
- Now you need a Windows PC that has ODIN program in order to install the firmware in your device.
- Take your Samsung galaxy S5 active and change it into downloading mode (Turn off your device and then hold the volume down, the power and the home buttons at ones until you see a warning sign. Then press the volume up button to enter the downloading mode )
- Make sure your PC can identify your device. If not, you can DOWNLOAD THE DRIVERS FROM HERE
- Plug-in your phone to your PC and open ODIN program. You will notice a blue sign says (com-X) {X stands for a number} which means the program identifies your device
- Click on PDA or AP option and choose your firmware file after that click start
- After installation your phone will reboot 2-3 times
- The marshmallow setup screen will appear (which means the process of installation is done successfully)
